Gather Data

Some or all of the following data are required for each family covered by sales and operations planning – at minimum:   

  • Bookings

  • Shipments

  • Production (supply)

  • Inventory On Hand

  • Customer Order Backlog

Typically this data is aggregated at the end of each S&OP period into the appropriate families, usually via a computer program that looks at the history of demand and supply, or at the inventory on hand values and customer orders.  In smaller companies or companies with extremely low data volumes, it is possible to accumulate the data manually, although this is not typical.
